Subscribe to Rss Feed Menswear Monday: Timeless Must-Haves
I often get asked what are wardrobe "must-haves" for the season, but today I wanted to focus on must-have wardrobe staples that are timeless. Men's fashion is often much different then women's in that they don't have as many changes in trends as women. I came up with some of my favorite timeless must-haves for men below:
Classic Suit
The fit and color depend on the person, whatever is going to be the most functional and versatile for you. Most men find black to be the 'go-to' color choice, but navy...
Trend Thursday: Hair Accessories
Hair accessories have been everywhere this season. I've always been big into hair accessories because it's an easy way to change your look. You may be wondering what classifies as a hair accessory - really anything that you use in your hair that isn't your actual hair. Here are some fun and easy ways to incorporate hair accessories into your look this season - some of these are great with the warm weather here!
I found this on Pinterest (my go-to for SO many things these days)

Trend Thursday: Spring Nail Trends 2013
I'm sure you've noticed the past year or so nail art has become a HUGE trend and thanks to sites like Pinterest, we're able to find out how to do nail art without having to go to a salon. Here are some of my favorite trends in nail art that were seen on the runway for this Spring season:
Two-Tone Nails -

Trend Thursday: Wedge Sneakers
Who knew high top sneakers would be seen on everyone from Super models like Miranda Kerr to Jennifer Lopez? The past few months it's been almost impossible to miss this new trend being worn and seen in unexpected ways by unexpected people. I'll admit, I'm all about this trend. Not being your typical 'sneaker person' (other than to the gym), I purchased a pair of gold high top sneakers (not in a wedge) from Michael Kors and I wear them more then I EVER would have imagined. Typically I'm a high heel person, so I was a bit hesitant to make the investment in...

Looking for a little Spring style inspiration? Although it doesn't feel like Spring (here in Chicago, anyways), we can still think Spring trends! Christopher Kane had an amazing deconstructed lace dress in his Spring 2013 collection that I found really inspirational. I love the combination of lace with the black strips, lady like and edgy. Editorial and Runway are great places to get inspiration from, just keep in mind you don't have to embrace EVERY trend and you don't need to wear trends the exact same way they're shown. Make fashion your style,...
Thursday Trend: Black & White
The Black & White color combination typically isn't a Spring thing, but this year's different. The black and white color combo has been everywhere this season, but not in your traditional black dress or black suit and white blouse. Think color blocking trend but with black and white instead of color, and graphic prints. It's all about making this normally toned down color combination, bold and unique. Here are some examples of the black and white trend for spring that are my favorites so far:Menswear Monday: Two-Toned Necktie
Men don't typically have as many variations in style as women, so when they have something as traditional as a necktie that's been updated I love it. Lately I've noticed a lot of 'two-toned' ties hitting the scene. Personally, I'm all about this trend for men. I think this is a great update to the traditional tie. What's even better is that a lot of them are in solids or traditional black or gray tones so they aren't too 'in your face' but they make a statement. Here are some of my favorite two-toned ties I've come across recently:
Thursday Trend: Leather
I know what you're thinking...leather for Spring and Summer, really? Really. It may not seem like a likely (or functional) fabric for the warm weather but I have a few options for you to embrace the trend without overheating.
RACHEL Rachel Roy Sleevless Faux Leather Trim Tank
Macy's - Originally $69 NOW $49.99
Menswear Monday: Colored Denim
Colored denim has been HUGE for women for a couple seasons now and the trend has finally transitioned to the men. I haven't witnessed many men taking this chance yet, but I hope they start to catch onto the trend. Here are some of my favorite selections for the guys:
Citizens of Humanity
via Neiman Marcus ($180)

Awards Season: The Oscars 2013
It's hard to believe the big Award Show Season is officially wrapped with the Oscars having taken place a couple weeks ago. I know I'm a bit late on this one but I wanted to share my favorite looks from the evening.
Naomi Watts - Wearing Armani
The asymmetrical neckline is amazing on Naomi. The fit it flawless, and how great is the sparkle?

Awards Season: The Grammys 2013
I always love Award show season, waiting for your favorite celebrities to walk the iconic red carpet wondering what they will being wearing that night. The Grammys is definitely one of my favorite award shows, the attendees tend to be a little more adventurous at the show. Of course, we all have our own opinions as to who was a 'hit' and who was a 'miss.' I wanted to share some of my favorite looks from this year's Grammy Awards.
Kelly Rowland in Georges Chakra Couture: She just looks amazing in this dress,...

Yesterday was the first day of what many in the fashion industry look at as Christmas. For the fashion obsessed (like myself), Fashion week is everything you could want new trends to capture a glimpse at, New York City, and of course seeing what everyone is wearing (including sightings of your fashion role models). I've been lucky enough to have experienced being in New York City during fashion week, and working at some of the fashion shows. There is no way to describe the energy the city has during this week, everyone...and I mean everyone knows it's fashion...

What to Wear: Thanksgiving Part 1
Thanksgiving is just days away now, what are you going to wear this year? I always recommend wearing clothing that is made with soft, stretchy material...after all it is a holiday surrounded around eating! Here's an example of a great look if your family does something more formal for this holiday. Mixing textures gives the look a unique feel.

Men's Must Haves for Fall 2012
Since I've recently expanded to offering men's styling services along with the amazing J.Hilburn collection I thought it necessary to share some of my favorite must haves for Men's style for Fall & Winter.
The 3rd Piece -
I always love a 3 piece suit for a man, I think the Fall and Winter seasons make it especially necessary. Not only do the pieces look great together, but it's versatile too! You can wear each piece separate as well.
Charity Style
I'm sure you're aware that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, it's nearly impossible to miss with all of the retailers having special offers to help raise money for the cause. I'm so thrilled that so many companies are working hard to raise money for different causes that (unfortunately) have an effect on many of us. With so many brands offering great products I wanted to share some of my favorites, which are also great pieces to add to your wardrobe. You can also feel great when wearing them knowing that your purchase is helping someone suffering from any...

Shades of burgundy are everywhere this season. If the color isn't your best for YOUR personal coloring, try incorporating it into your wardrobe with accessories like belts, shoes, and handbags. Even nail polish in these hues are making a splash - super easy way to bring the color to your look without much of a commitment. What are your thoughts on this color? Love it...hate it? Some of you may know that this past Thursday evening was Fashion's Night Out. FNO has become an annual event in New York City to kick of the September Fashion Week for the past few years and last year Chicago officially caught on to the idea! Stores from the city to the suburbs were hosting their own events, some bigger then others but there were plenty of options to explore. Most of the stores had their events and promotions going on from 6:00-9:00pm. I spent the evening downtown in Chicago.
I started my evening at Henri...
Most Wearable Women's Fall Trends 2012
Not all trends are wearable for everyone, I picked a few of my favorite trends that anyone can embrace this Fall season. Keep in mind the runway pictures are for inspiration, most trends seen on the runway are just for that. Inspiration and entertainment, Fashion week is the fashion industry's version of a Broadway musical. The trends are then translated down to everyday wear for the general population to wear.

This can be a classic texture for some, but it's being found in everything from headbands to pencil...
Good Day Chicago Week #1
I'm excited to share that I was able to be a part of a fashion segment featured on Fox New Chicago's show "Good Day Chicago. I was the 'behind-the-scenes' stylist for the segment that aired August 8th at 9:50am. The week's segment was focused on the menswear inspired trend that has made a huge impact on women's fall fashion this year! Here's a picture of our REAL WOMEN models (just like YOU) + the presenter of the segment.
Accessory of the Month: Gigi Hill Handbags
Recently, I was introduced to the handbag line Gigi Hill and let me tell you I can't believe I didn't come across the line sooner! This line was brought to my attention when I met Gigi Hill Independent Consultant, Becki Burke. After flipping through the Gigi Hill lookbook, I fell in love with their 'Audrey' bag. What I loved so much about this specific bag was the enormous amount of storage + organization that the bag offered. The Audrey bag is a bit larger in size, which makes it perfect for everyday + work + whenever you need to be carrying a number of...

Make Up Mayhem
Ok ladies, I've come across this AMAZING product recently that I just had to share! I'm all about using makeup to highlight certain areas of the face, specifically under the eyes. I think it's great to not only draw attention to those gorgeous eyes but enhance them. My latest trick to achieving a highlighted look around the eyes? Mary Kay Cosmetics has come out with a product called the Facial Highlighting Pen, and let me tell you I don't know what I did before this little gem. It comes in 4 shades (Shade 1, Shade 2, and well you get it!), for my own...
